Sainte-Maxime
Wednesday 30 October 2024 to 20h30
Fans of the band, founded in 2013 in Seattle, USA, appreciate their blend of emotion and energy, and recognise their almost cathartic live performances. While the musicians have retained the codes of their elders, they shine with their warmth, enthusiasm and impressive fire. A return to their roots that hasn't aged a bit!
What started out as a jam session between three musicians from Michigan - drummer David McGraw, bassist Bryant Moor and guitarist Jimmy James - has been greatly expanded with the presence of percussionist Ivan Galvez, trombonists Jason Cressey and Greg Kramer, and saxophonists Gordon Brown and Skerik. The band's groovy, rhythmic performance gets off to a flying start, breaks the tempo sharply, goes off at a hundred miles an hour and starts all over again.
‘Listening to them is like strolling down a street in your favourite neighbourhood, shaking hands with your friends, checking up on the shop assistants in their shops... The band is its own neighbourhood party,’ writes CultureLive about them, praising their tours as well as their albums: Famous Last Words (their first instrumental album, recorded in 2017) and Sunday Afternoon, released in 2021.
