Grimaud
Friday 23 May 2025 from 21h to 22h
Concert by the Naïs Quartet, 1st prize winners of the American Virtuoso International Music Competition 2023, and Patrick Messina, principal clarinet of the Orchestre National de France. Founded in 2022, the Naïs Quartet is a meeting of four musicians and friends keen to share their artistic worlds through the vast repertoire of the string quartet, opening up to a world in perpetual evolution where the arts, influencing, linking and colliding, are witnesses to its mutation. The quartet is made up of Cyprien BROD and Albane GENAT (violins), Yona ZEKRI (viola) and Justine PERE (cello). Since its creation, the quartet has benefited from the invaluable advice of Yovan Markovitch and the Quatuor Dutilleux, as well as Minna Pensola, founding member of the Meta4 Quartet, during a masterclass organised by ProQuartet. The Quatuor Naïs won 1st prize in the American Virtuoso International Music Competition 2023 Winter Edition in the ‘classical period repertoire’ category.
A leading French clarinettist, Patrick Messina has won international acclaim for his captivating interpretations and recognisable sound, which infuse his singularity across a wide repertoire. Alongside his solo activities, he worked for six years with New York's Metropolitan Opera, under the baton of James Levine, Valery Gergiev and Leonard Slatkin. In 2003, he became principal clarinet of the Orchestre National de France under Kurt Masur.
