Under the direction of the (LA)HORDE collective, the Ballet national de Marseille traverses the history of contemporary dance from 1992 to the present day through a variety of French and international styles.

It is a way of bringing together hyper-realism and minimalism, sensual volcanism and fantasy on pointe, festive energy and percussive movements in a fascinating kaleidoscope.

Each performance by (LA)HORDE is an event. Whether it's a new creation or a composite programme, the Ballet national de Marseille's dancers deploy the same saving energy, the same technical quality and the same interpretive strength. In total resonance with their times, they reappropriate pieces from the contemporary repertoire.

Roomates is a perfect example, bringing together in a single evening essential works by Cecilia Bengolea and François Chaignaud (Grime Ballet, Danser parce qu'in ne peut parler aux animaux), Lucinda Childs (Concerto), Peeping Tom (Oiwa), Claude Brumachon (Les Indomptés) and (LA)HORDE - Marine Brutti, Jonathan Debrouwer and Arthur Harel (extract from Room with a view, (LA)HORDE's first international success with music by Rone).

The boldness of Brumachon's duo, the diaphanous bodies of Peeping Tom, the daring virtuality of the company's own creation: these are all styles and gestures that fit like a glove with the chameleon-like performers in osmosis with their respective worlds.
