Monument of the Landing in Provence at Canadel
All year round, daily.
Located just above the beach of Canadel, this small monument built of ashlar, composed of a cubic base surmounted by a column in the shape of a truncated pyramid, where the crest of the Commandos d'Afrique in bronze, which has disappeared nowadays, and a marble plaque where one can read: "It is at this precise and now historical point that, during the night of August 14 to 15, 1944, the first wave of the Commandos d'Afrique landed before the Allied troops."
This monument was built thanks to a voluntary public subscription and by the Local Liberation Committee in the first months of 1949.
