La Pointe des Sardinaux

Water sports - Beach / Bathing Area

Sainte-Maxime
Picnic, sunbathe, dive and explore! A magical place where young and old can discover plants, seaweed, shellfish and crustaceans... A place of tranquillity, the Pointe des Sardinaux is a wild, natural peninsula nicknamed "Little Corsica". A haven of peace where you can relax and have fun: get the most from your free time and go there!

A real haven of peace, in winter and summer alike, this place is a human-scale representation of the coastal world.

Access is via the corniche lined with umbrella pines in the direction of Saint-Raphaël, just before La Nartelle beach. It is difficult to see from the road, as the area is restricted to pedestrians, and parking is tricky and on the edge of the road.

Families can picnic on the grass in the shade of the pine trees and watch the shellfish in the rocks with their children, sunbathe on the small sandy beach at the end of the peninsula or go scuba diving (depths 0-40 m).

The site, which belongs to the Var département but is managed by the commune, is part of the coastal path and has two interesting features:
* a Second World War bunker (the coast was the scene of the Provence Landings on 15 August 1944)
* a fishpond dating back to Roman times

Dogs are only allowed:
- On an area of the beach in the town centre, near the Pont du Préconil bridge, marked with dedicated signs.
- On the landward side of the Pointe des Sardinaux
