La Mole
In the freshness of a green setting! This hike from La Mole to Cogolin is easy to do on foot or by mountain bike, thanks to its gentle gradient. It regularly runs alongside the La Môle stream.
This is a hike in the heart of the alluvial valley. You'll enter a wetland area and pass by pasture meadows. The riverside vegetation, known as the ripisylve, is made up of black poplars, alders, ashes and walnut trees, and accompanies you throughout the walk. These plant species, uncommon in the Mediterranean region, create a unique atmosphere that contrasts with the busy environment of the nearby coastal strip and the surrounding scrubland of cork oaks, maritime pines...
You'll also discover an exceptional wooded area: the Espace Naturel Sensible (ENS) des Pradels, managed and preserved by the Conseil Départemental du Var. Surprisingly large hollies, American red oaks, hornbeams, lime trees, hackberry trees, a sequoia, cedars and rowan trees make up this remarkable diversity of trees.
Walk and look up to appreciate the incredible plant cover. Listen to the songs of the birds that call it home. The autumn colors of this Maures massif are astonishing, and the freshness produced by this lush vegetation is much appreciated in late spring.
Did you know? Interpretation desks are deployed on the intercommunal hiking trails. To find out more about the Verne dam, it's over here , about the Mole valley, it's here! And on the Maraveou zone ecopole, it's here!
