Rayol-Canadel-sur-Mer
Non-profit association managing the Domaine du Rayol, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, to promote this 20-hectare protected natural area and its Mediterranean Garden created by Gilles Clément. The Domaine du Rayol is a 20-hectare protected natural area, owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, consisting of 13 hectares of scrubland and 7 hectares of gardens evocative of the Mediterranean climate regions of the world, which can be visited every day, all year round.
Landscape architect Gilles Clément designed Le Jardin des Méditerranées, an invitation to travel through the world's Mediterranean landscapes (California, Chile, South Africa, Australia, the Mediterranean Basin, the Canaries) and landscapes with more arid or subtropical climates (Mexico, Asia, New Zealand, subtropical America).
"To discover this garden is to feel some of the emotions experienced by a botanical explorer surveying the planet!"
The Domaine du Rayol offers daily discovery tours, themed tours, activities for families, training courses for individuals and professionals, temporary exhibitions, seasonal celebrations, a plant festival, an underwater trail and musical evenings (classical and Mediterranean music) in summer.
Permanent exhibitions "De la villégiature au Jardin des Méditerranées de Gilles Clément" in the Villa Rayolet and on the marine environment in the Maison de la Plage.
On site, you'll find a restaurant-tea room "Le Café des Jardiniers", France's largest "nature" bookshop and an ecological nursery.
Tourisme durable

Owned by the Conservatoire du Littoral, this protected natural area lies at the foot of the Maures massif, opposite the islands of the Port-Cros National Park. Renowned landscape architect Gilles Clément has created a garden featuring a mosaic of landscapes evoking the flora of the world's Mediterranean climates. A true invitation to travel, where all the senses are stimulated.
The garden has been ecologically managed since its creation in 1989. An educational site, it can be explored freely with the help of a map, an audioguide or a guided tour. Younger visitors can take part in fun activities that introduce them to ecological gardening and raise their awareness of the need to preserve the environment, both on land and in the sea.
Le Jardin des Méditerranées reveals its beauty and interest in every season; in winter, it takes on a special appeal with the blossoming of some forty different species of mimosa and other plants native to the southern hemisphere.
The Domaine du Rayol is an LPO Refuge and benefits from the "Esprit parc national - Port-Cros" label.
